Citi’s mid-tier travel card just got a better side bonus. The Citi Strata Premier card offers 60,000 bonus ThankYou points after $4,000 in purchases in the first 3 months, for a $95 annual fee. Rakuten’s Strata Premier page shows a cash back payout for new, approved cardholders. Rakuten’s payout for this card changes often, so check the current amount on Rakuten’s page before you apply. The card earns 10 points per $1 on hotels, car rentals and attractions booked through cititravel.com, 3 per $1 on air travel, other hotels, restaurants, supermarkets and gas and EV charging, and 1 per $1 on everything else. Once a year you also get $100 off a single hotel stay of $500 or more (before taxes and fees) booked through Citi Travel. The points transfer to airline partners like American Airlines, JetBlue, Virgin Atlantic and Cathay. Citi says you can’t get the bonus if you currently have or ever had a Strata Premier or the older Citi Premier card. To get the Rakuten bonus, sign in to Rakuten, click “Learn More” on the card’s store page, finish the application in that same browser session and keep the account open at least 3 months. Rakuten pays one card bonus per member. New to Rakuten? Our Rakuten guide covers how payouts work.
