This page explains how Points Quest decides what to cover, how I rate products, and how I check offers.
Who writes Points Quest
Everything is written and approved by the Quartermaster (“QM”), the pen name of the site’s owner. I may use software tools, including AI drafting tools, to help with research, first drafts, and finding broken links. A human (me) reviews, edits, and approves everything before it’s published. Personal stories and numbers come only from my own records.
How I verify offers
- Source first. I check welcome offers, fees, and earning rates on the issuer’s or program’s own website.
- Date-stamp. Every offer shows the date I verified it.
- Link the terms. Every offer links to the issuer’s page, and “terms apply” means just that.
- Other sites are tips, not sources. I may learn about a deal from another site or a reader, but I confirm it at the source before publishing, and I don’t copy anyone’s text.
- If I can’t verify it, I say so. You’ll see that stated plainly instead of a guess.
How I review cards
Card Reviews use the same fields every time:
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Welcome offer and earning | The bonus and ongoing earning rates, with my estimate of value and how I calculated it |
| Annual fee | The annual fee and any other costs |
| Best for | The kind of spender who tends to get the most out of it |
| Watch out | Eligibility rules, fine print, and credits that are harder to use than they look |
Ratings are based on the product’s terms and, where noted, my own use of it. Compensation doesn’t change a rating.
Point valuations
When I put a cents-per-point value on something, I show the math: (cash price − taxes and fees paid) ÷ points used. Valuations are estimates, not guarantees.
Corrections
If I get something wrong, I fix it and note the change at the bottom of the post with the date. Spot an error? Tell me.
Expired offers
I mark expired deals as Expired rather than deleting them, and I link to the current offer where there is one.
