Bank and brokerage bonuses are the quiet side of the points hobby. There is no credit card application, no annual fee, and the payout is cash you can spend on anything, including a trip. This page collects the live checking, savings, business, and brokerage bonuses we have covered, with the deposit you need, the deadline, and the date we last checked each one on the bank’s own page.

Checked October 27, 2026: we reconfirmed the Chase, E*Trade, Schwab, Wells Fargo, Bask, and tastytrade headline offers on their own pages today. Bank of America, Navy Federal, and Citibank pages did not load for our check today, so those rows show the date of our last confirmed check.

Before you open anything

Bank bonuses are usually taxable income, and banks may send you a 1099 for them. Read the offer terms on the bank’s page the day you open, because bonuses can end early or change without notice.

Easiest if you have a paycheck

Direct deposit bonuses are the simplest to earn. Chase wants a qualifying direct deposit within 90 days, with no minimum amount in its current terms. E*Trade wants two deposits of $1,500 or more. Bank of America pays on a sliding scale from $100 to $500 depending on how much arrives in 90 days. Most employers let you split a paycheck between two accounts, so you can send just enough to the new account for a couple of pay periods and leave the rest where it is.

Watch the definition of direct deposit. E*Trade and Bank of America both say it means recurring income such as a paycheck, pension, or government benefits, so a transfer from your other bank may not count.

Best if you have savings to move

Balance bonuses pay more but tie up money. Schwab pays $250 to $1,000 for new money held through Dec. 25, 2026. Wells Fargo’s $2,500 needs $250,000 in linked balances, but investment balances at Wells Fargo Advisors count, so moving a brokerage account you already own can qualify. tastytrade pays up to $2,000 for a new brokerage account, but the deposit has to stay for 12 months.

Do the math before you move cash. A bonus is only worth it if it beats what the same money would earn in a high-yield savings account over the holding period. Chase Savings and Wells Fargo Premier Checking both pay very little interest, so plan to move the money back out once the holding period ends.

Business checking bonuses

If you run a business or side business, Bank of America and Citibank both pay tiered bonuses for new money in a new business checking account. Neither needs direct deposit, but both need you to hold the balance for a set period, and Citibank needs a business specialist to open the account. Business card bonuses are often bigger. See our welcome bonus list for the current Chase Ink offers.

How bank bonuses fit a points strategy

Cash from a bank bonus can pay for the parts of a trip that points don’t cover, like taxes on award tickets or a rental car. It also keeps you out of new credit card applications while you wait to get under issuer limits. If you take Rakuten payouts as Amex Membership Rewards or Bilt points, the Synchrony offer above turns into transferable points. Our Rakuten guide explains how that works, and How to Use Credit Card Points covers what to do with them.

FAQ

Are bank account bonuses taxable?

Usually yes. Schwab says it may send a 1099 for its bonus, and Wells Fargo says its bonus is reported as taxable income. Set aside part of any bonus for taxes.

Can I get the same bonus again?

Sometimes, after a waiting period. Chase allows one checking bonus every two years. Wells Fargo excludes anyone who got a Premier Checking bonus in the past 12 months, and Bank of America excludes anyone who owned one of its personal checking accounts in the past 12 months. Each write-up above lists the exact rule.

How often is this page updated?
