Want some American miles without an annual fee or a big spending requirement? American’s AAdvantage MileUp card page has a “new bonus offer”: a $100 statement credit plus 15,000 AAdvantage bonus miles after you spend $500 in the first 3 months. The card has no annual fee and earns 2 miles per dollar at grocery stores (grocery delivery included) and on eligible American purchases, and 1 mile per dollar on everything else. You also get 25% off inflight food and drinks on American. You can’t get the bonus if you’ve received a MileUp new-account bonus in the past 48 months, or if you converted another Citi card that earned a bonus in that time into a MileUp. It’s also limited to U.S. residents, excluding Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Why now? Citi’s bigger AAdvantage personal cards just came back down. As of Thursday, American’s Citi / AAdvantage card hub shows the Platinum Select at 50,000 miles after $2,500 (down from 80,000) and the Executive at 80,000 after $8,000 (down from 125,000). That makes this small, easy bonus a better deal by comparison. To get it, apply from the aa.com page (it warns the offer may disappear if you leave the page), put $500 of groceries or regular bills on the card within 3 months, and watch for the credit and miles.
